Thelma Prater Kinard, 87, of 7925 Fruit Hill Road, Ninety Six, widow of Andrew John Kinard, Jr. passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Prater and Lillie Mae Fitzgerald Prater. She found joy in fishing, often embarking on journeys to her favorite spots, where she found solace in nature's beauty.
Thelma's unwavering faith in the Lord was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. She took great delight in spending time with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Thelma's compassionate spirit shone brightly as she dedicated her time to organizing benefits for the Good Hope community, exemplifying kindness and generosity in all that she did.
A proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Thelma's devotion to her faith and her community was unwavering. Her impact on those she encountered will forever be remembered and treasured.
She is survived by her children, Randall Allen Kinard (Cathy) of Pelion, Janice Green of Ninety Six, and Barbie Smith of Greenwood; sister, Josephine Gray of Mauldin; sister-in-law, Patsy Edwards of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, John Blease, Chris Blease, Dawn Reed, Shauna Collum, Heather Green, Michelle Leopard, Jennifer Ergle, Tiffany Rowe; and a number of great and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Rodney Kinard; son-in-law, Mickey Smith; and grandson, Marshall Kinard.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Bodie officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m.
