Thomas Lee Rankin, Sr, 77, of Greenwood, husband of Julie Leavitt Rankin, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, peacefully at his home.

Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Colie Lee Rankin and Josephine Smith Rankin. Thomas was an Air Force veteran and a graduate from Lander University where he was in the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. A man of strong faith, he was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church where he was in the Dr. Richard Carters Class. Thomas was a proud Gamecock fan, a friend to many and known by his infectious smile. He lived his life with joy and laughter, always finding time to spend with his loved ones, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was married to his beloved wife for 53 wonderful years. She was the light of his life, and together they created a family filled with love and memories.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Colie Gene Rankin and Alvin Rankin.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Thomas Lee Rankin, II (Paula) Juliann Hudgens (Eric) and Bradford Leavitt Rankin (Priscilla); sister, JoAnn Goard (Ronnie); sister-in-law, Sandra Rankin; and grandchildren, Noah Rankin, Luke Rankin, Marisa Rankin, Elizabeth Hudgens, Addison Hudgens and Emma Hudgens.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 12, 2025, at South Main Street Baptist Church with Dr. Toby Frost officiating.

A private burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
