Timothy Allen Summey

Sep 1, 1955 — Jul 2, 2026

Greenwood

Timothy "Tim" Allen Summey, 70, of Greenwood, husband of Sylvia "Delores" Waites Summey, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born on September 1, 1955 in Pickens, SC, he was a son of the late Shala "Dink" Wells Summey, Jr. and Dorothy Sheppard Summey.

A master of many trades, Tim spent his life building both structures and lasting relationships. He dedicated his career to the electrician and construction fields, where his leadership style was defined by a rare warmth; to his employees, he wasn't just a boss, but "like a dad" who mentored and supported them daily.

When he wasn't on a job site, Tim could usually be found under the hood of a car or chasing adrenaline at the racetrack, indulging his deep passion for working on cars and racing them at both the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Yet, for all his tough-guy hobbies and time spent serving his country in the Army Reserves and Army National Guard, he was known to everyone who loved him as a genuinely good man—a "big ol' teddy bear" with a heart of gold.

Above all his achievements, Tim’s greatest joy came from the quiet, cherished moments he spent with his grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, fierce loyalty, and gentle love.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Timothy Shannon Summey (Leah); step children, Sylvia "Sissy" Roark (Chris), Michael Knight (Angie), and Ken Ashley (Alicia); sisters, Geraldine "Deedee" Summey Durham (Harold), and Alice Guinn Logue; brother, Shala Butch Summey, III (Pagie); daughter-in-law, Samantha Summey; sister-in-law, Cathy Summey; grandchildren, Haley Tucker (Spencer), Brianna Weeks (Shane), Ashley Welchel (Justin), Olivia Ashley, Hannah Chaney (Joseph), Jacob Roark, Cameron Summey (Lillianne), Hunter Summey (Kristen), Dylan Summey, Logan Summey, and Ryann Randall; great grandchildren, Laryn, Maelyn, Huntley, Sadie, Brody, Brantley, Benjamin, Gage, Lennon, Rosemary, Josephine, and three on the way; fur baby, Lucy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Summey; stepson, Larry "Dump" Ashley; and brother, Douglas "Rudy" Rudolph Summey.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Rabon officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
