Thomas "Tom" Henry Etters, of Greenwood, widower of Bonnie Culbertson Etters, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Born on June 12, 1947, in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Henry and Nellie Taylor Etters. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1974, a commitment that reflected his dedication and sense of duty. He later became the Chief of Police for the town of Ninety Six from 1980 to 1984, where he worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of his community. Following his tenure in law enforcement, Tom spent 35.5 years at Cooper Power Systems, where he retired in 2017 as a respected supervisor, leaving a legacy of hard work and integrity. He attended Ninety Six First Baptist Church alongside his wife Bonnie until her passing. He had a warm smile and a kind heart, cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Barbara Campbell and Michael Etters; and fur babies, Bella and Snookie.
Surviving are his stepsons, Bryan Roller (Karen) and Keith Roller (Angelia), both of Ninety Six; sisters, Sandra Harmon of Newberry, Debra Hanley of Clinton, and Margaret Parris of Saluda; grandchildren, Blair Benjamin (Mark) of Greenwood, Blake Roller of Ninety Six, Karmen Underwood (Ryan) of Mountville, Kaelynn Macon (Wesley) of Maysville, NC, Mikayla Gettys (Blake)of Greenwood, and Trenton Roller of Ninety Six; great-grandchildren: Waylen, River, Brooks, Lainey, Presley, Karolina and Owen; sister-in-law, Barbara Cason (Donnie) of Fountain Inn; and furbaby girl, Kiki.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse and Rev. Michael How officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Roller, Trenton Roller, Ryan Underwood, Mark Benjamin, Wesley Macon, Blake Gettys, Steve Sparks and Leroy Chrisley.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8pm.
