John Thomas �Tommy� Vinson, 76, of 941 Pemberton Street, husband of Tauna Taylor Vinson, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at his home. Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Lee Roy Vinson and Sarah Ailleen McConnell Vinson. Tommy was a U. S. Navy Veteran and retired from Flour Daniel. He was a Mason where he was member of Bascomb Lodge # 363 in Hodges and Hejaz Temple. Tommy was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Abbeville. He was preceded in death by a son, Ken Vinson and a brother, Leroy Vinson, Jr. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Reba Vinson; a son Chris Vinson, both of Greenwood; two step daughters, Penny �Destry� Davenport of Simpsonville and Mandy Davis of Greenwood; two sisters, Judy Long and Debbie Silk, both of Hodges; a brother Randy Vinson of Greenwood; six grandchildren; and special friend Steve Harbin of Lake Mary FL. Pallbearers will be Scott Silk, Hunter Vinson, Destry Davenport, Jason Bagwell, Travis Taylor and Robert �Buck� Lamb. Honorary escort will be Chris Vinson, Steve Harbin and Ben Vinson.
