Vera Thompson "Nanny Bell" Martin, 79, of Greenwood, widow of Billy W. Martin, died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Owen and Ruby Lee Harvey Thompson. Vera retired from Schlumberger and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Owen Thompson, Jr. and Tommy Thompson; by a granddaughter, Alisha Martin Boyter; and a great grandson Hayes Elliott Boyter.

Surviving are her children, Billy Martin (Tammy), Gene Martin (Brenda) Martin and Wendy Owen, all of Greenwood; a sister Linda Noffz (Wayne), sister-in-law, Perfecta B. Thompson; grandchildren: Brandan Martin (Shanda), Amanda Roton (Ray), Michael O'Shield (Cory), Lewis O'Shield (Amber), Amber Koerber (Chris), Megan Glanton (Boon), Jessica Stanley (Justin), Megan Pressley (Adam) and Brittany Timms (Taylor); and twenty six great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. The service will be live streamed and available to view by visiting Nanny Bell's life tribute page at www.harleyfuneralhome.com , where you can leave messages for the family. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Brandan Martin, Chris Koerber, Michael O'Shield, James Baxley Jr., Lewis O'Shield, Ray Roton, Adam Pressley and Daniel Glanton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 pm.
