Obituary

Verna Minish �Nanny� Smallwood, 95, resident of Magnolia Manor, widow of Alvin L. Smallwood, died Friday, June 24, 2011 at Hospice House. Born in Commerce, GA, she was a daughter of the late Henry Coil and Dorah Lovern Minish. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church, where she was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class and was the Nursery Director for more than thirty years, loving every minute of it. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her daughter, Mildred S. Brown of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Helen S. Stockton of Jonesboro, GA; grandchildren, Cathy W. Clinkscales of Greenwood and Sheila R. Sorrells and her husband, Chris, of Waynesville, NC; great grandchildren, J. Brent Miller and his wife, Lacey, and Wesley Clinkscales, all of Greenwood, Lauren Sorrells of Waynesville, NC; great great grandchildren, J.J. Miller and Kayla Miller. Sincere appreciation is extended by the family to the staff of Hospice House, Nanny�s doctors and care providers and her special caregivers, Toyka and Caroline.
