John Vernon Clark, 90, of Ninety Six, widower of Peggy Marie Helton Clark, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at his home.
Born on June 14, 1935 in Greenwood, he was the son of the late John Robert Clark and Julie Shirley Clark.
John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country with honor before beginning his career at Duke Power, where he was known as a skilled operator who took pride in his job. His strong work ethic extended far beyond his professional life. John was a true farmer at heart, finding immense joy and peace in tending to his farm and caring for his cows. He especially cherished the times when his family would join him, working side by side and sharing in the rewards of their labor.
John was a central figure in his community, and his commitment to service was evident through his heavy involvement with the Greenwood Moose Lodge. He was a dedicated member who gave generously of his time and spirit. Above all, John was a devoted family man. He loved his family deeply and created a home filled with warmth and love. He treasured family get-togethers and holidays, where he could be surrounded by the people he loved most. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed keeping up with current events by watching Fox News and had a keen interest in tracking the weather.
He is survived by his children, Lynn and Pam of South Carolina, and John Clark(Monika) of Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lib, Ethel, Margie, Edna, Lois, Doris, and Mildred; a grandson, Roger Gregory; and two great grandchildren, Jayden and Noah.
John was the last surviving member of his Immediate family.
