Victor "Vic" Dale Barrett, also known as Pop Pop, 64, of Greenwood, husband of Melanie Cochran Barrett, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Commerce, GA he was a son of the late Othell Verdel and Mavis Gladine Beck Barrett. Vic led a life rich with adventure, love, and dedication.
He was a true outdoorsman, a soul who thrived in nature. He found joy in camping, fishing, boating, and building fires, often launching spontaneous adventures with family and friends. Riding his side by side with his grandchildren brought him great joy, as he cherished every moment spent creating memories with them. A hardworking and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Vic was known for his exceptional ability to fix anything -from household repairs to complex machinery. One of his greatest accomplishments was the construction of his own home, a testament to his unwavering dedication and craftsmanship, built with his own hands, symbolizing his devotion to his family. This home became not just a shelter, but a warm gathering place filled with love for his family, where countless memories were made.
In addition to his wife, Melanie, he is survived by his three daughters, Lea Barrett (Alvin Timms), Victoria King (Richard), and Brittany Williamson; son, Baylee Brown; sister, Sandra Mason; brothers, Russell Barrett and Delbert Barrett (Deborah); grandchildren, Danica Morris, Isabella Morris, Victor "Blake" Barrett, Janie Grace Bryan, Anna Beth Timms, Nathan King, Jaxson Richardson, Samuel Vanderlinden, Scarlet Cochran, Madyson Cochran, Spencer Cochran, Greyson Cochran, and Naomi Cochran; and a niece, Tracey Fowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Othell and Mavis; his first wife, Nancy Barrett; a daughter, Destynee Barrett; and a baby brother, Mike Barrett.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
