Vera "Vicki" Hughes Ashley, 70, of Waterloo, wife of Charles "Chuck" Ashley, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at her home.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ruby Scott Hughes. Vicki worked at Harris Plant in Greenwood in 1974 for 13 years before leaving to work in McCormick Clerk of Court office then retiring from the Greenwood Clerk of Court office as chief deputy clerk of court in charge of jurors. She was a avid Clemson fan, enjoyed bowling and bowled in many tournaments before she retired. She was a member of the Abbeville Double Step Darling clogging team. Vicki was a member of New Life PHC where she was the mission's director, a member of the Women's Ministries, Young at Heart group and the children's church instructor. She was a wonderful Godly woman and loved the Lord. Her family and friends are at peace knowing she's with her Savior.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her stepdaughter, Amanda Ashley of Ware Shoals sister, Tammy Field (Bill) of Deerfield Beach, FL; brothers, Brad (Joan) and David (Wanda) Hughes, both of Waterloo; bonus sister, Alicia Cooper; step grandchildren, Eli and Ella Anty; niece, Angie (Leigh) Redden of Greenwood; nephews, Stacy (Stephanie), Rob (Alena), all of Greenwood, Eric Cogdill, Warrant Officer1 Robert Field (Miri), stationed in Germany, Thomas and Jonathan Field of Florida; several great nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbor, Sister Teresa Jackson.
Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Tommy Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Stacy Hughes, Robbie Hughes, Thomas Field, Jonathan Field, Dwight Anty and Johnny Eustace.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home from 5-7pm.
