Obituary

Charles Victor Sparks, Jr., 73, of 231 Hardwood Loop, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Charles Victor Sparks, Sr. and Sybil Plampin Sparks. After graduating from Greenwood High School, he attended Clemson College for two years before joining the U. S. Air Force for five years. His working years were spent in Jacksonville, FL at Newark Group where he retired in 2002 and came back to his hometown of Greenwood. Victor�s hobbies were drawing, poetry, classical music and the study of the Bible, having taught himself Hebrew. He was a member of the American Legion Post 20, Greenwood Lodge # 91 A. F. M., was a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason, a Hejaz Shriner and Master Hillbilly and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Victor was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a sister, Jane Sparks; a brother, John Eric Sparks and his wife Victoria; nieces and nephew, Sandra Sparks, Kim Klein and Keith Stringer; and great nieces and nephews, Rachel, Kelly and Sean Klein and Alex Stringer. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the American Legion Post 20.
