Virgil Driskill, 92, of 1024 Ninety Six Highway, widow of Mallowee Boggero Driskill, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Elkton, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Mack and Rosie Tucker Driskill. Virgil was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII. He worked 28 years at Driskill Shop and also Greenwood Recycling for 23 years. He retired from the Greenwood City Mechanic Shop. Virgil served two terms on the county council and was a founder of Highway 34 Fire Department where he was former fire chief. He was a member of the Greenwood Lions Club, Mathews Lodge 358 and also Greenwood Shrine Club. Virgil was a member of New Life Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Steve Driskill, Mike Hastings (Angel) and Greg Hastings (Lynn), all of Greenwood; two sisters, Betty Richardson, IN and Glinnie Moss of KY; two brothers, Rev. Lloyd Allen Tucker and Kenneth Tucker; two grandchildren, Tyler Hastings and Lauren Hastings; and special friend, Juanita Davenport of the home.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Allen Tucker and Rev. Bud Tumblin officiating. Burial with military and Masonic Rites will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Laughin, Ronnie Davenport, Joe Davenport, Johnny Eutace, AL Tumblin and Neal Ferqueron.
Honorary escort will be the employees of Greenwood Recycling.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm.
