William Gene Ables, 34, of 404 Sunrise Circle, husband of Serena Blizzard Ables, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Honea Path, he was a son of Ronnie Ables and the late Victoria "Vicki" Starnes Ables. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard where he served in Iraq and was a member of the Fountain of Life Worship Center.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his father; his children, Hannah, Carson, Makayla, and Ryan Ables, all of Greenwood; a sister, Trish Boggs (Gabrial) of Greenwood; two brothers, Sammy Ables and Lenord Ables, both of Greenwood; his in-laws Robert Blizzard (TiTia), Earl Blizzard, Jr. (Chrystal) both of Greenwood, and Louise Cathcart (James) of Spartanburg; and close special family friends, Tim and Jane Simmons and Jamie and Rocky Boland and their children, Brianna and Timothy.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Wilson, Jason Wilson, and Pastor Robbie Brissey officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Earl Blizzard, Jr., Robert Blizzard, Tim Simmons, Gary Ables, Jamie Hansen, Stephen Cain, Orville Edwards, and Benjamin Black.

Honorary escort will be members of the 228th Signal Battalion and members of the 111th Signal Battalion.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
