Obituary

Walter J. Benjamin, 89 of 1936 Pineland Shores Circle, Cross Hill, widower of Jane Robison Benjamin, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at his home.

Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Bertha Mae Brown Benjamin. Walter was an electrician and retired from Stewart Airport. He was a member of the Elk Lodge #2568 in New Paltz, NY and was a member of Greenwood Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Jane Ferguson and her husband, Gary of Maryville, TN, and Jeanette Humphrey of Cross Hill, SC; two sons: Walter H. Benjamin and his wife, Donna of Stuart, FL, and Gary Benjamin and his wife, Angela of Bradley, SC; two sisters, Edith Rhynus of CA and Eleanor Belgiovine and her husband, Morris of Cross Hill, SC; a brother-in-law, Gene Robison and his wife, Linda of Stuart, NY; a special niece Cindy Halliday of Cross Hill; several other nieces and nephews; ten grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Alex Romanov officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm.
