Walter Alvin Pennington, Sr., 77, of Waterloo, widower of Gloria Judy Moss Pennington, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home with his son by his side.

Born in Garten, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Walter and Lillian Morton Pennington.

Known for his friendly and outgoing nature, Walter never met a stranger. He adored his dogs as if they were his own babies and could often be found fishing or hunting in the great outdoors. A jack of all trades, Walter took pride in caring for his yard, tending to his fruit trees, and loved to cut grass. He was a "great man" and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Walter Alvin Pennington, Jr. (Susie); stepdaughter, Bonny Macomson (Kurtis); grandchildren, Brian and Phillip Tinch; sisters, Hazel Jordan and Louann Pridmore; brothers, Paul Pennington and Allan Pennington; and Sharon Garner.

Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Plumb and Nina Harrison, and a brother, Mike Pennington.

A visitation will be held at Harley Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 4 to 5 pm.
