Larry Wayne Dixon, 76, of 176 Oakridge Street, Abbeville, husband of Sheila Marie Traynham Dixon, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home.

Born in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late John Wesley Dixon and Nellie Lou Gooch Dixon. He received his associate degree in building construction and retired from both Greenwood Mills, after twenty-five plus years, and Eaton. Wayne loved fishing, going camping, wood working, grilling, and his three fur babies. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Abbeville.

In addition to his wife Marie of the home are his children, Jeff Dixon (Velvet) of Greenwood, Rhonda Threlkeld (Travis) of Ninety Six, Ben Vinson (Kiley) of Lagrange, KY; grandchildren, Molly Vison, William Vison, Chris Day (Marie), Jennifer Kent (Nick), Justin Trull (Amanda), Stephanie McFerrin (Gary Helper), Andy Threlkeld (Peyton Truesdale), and Ashley Threlkeld; thirteen great grandchildren; and sisters, Joanne Nichols of Jonesboro, TN and Sandra Dixon (Nancy Cooper) of NC.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jim Nichols.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Zach Little and Kevin Hembree officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be David Gooch, Grover Christian, Justin Trull, Andy Threlkeld, Jonathan Traynham, and Chris Day.

Honorary escort will be Charles McGee, Mike Caruth, Harold Hunter and members of his church Sunday school class.

The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Camille Mason and staff; the staff of MSA Hospice, especially Brenda; Dr. Joanna Metzner-Sadurski and staff at the cancer center of Self Regional Medical Center; Dr. Anand Jillella and Dr. Michael Groves of the Augusta University Cancer Center for their love and care to Mr. Wayne.
