Obituary

Wilbur Ray Harvley, 86, of Saluda Street, Ninety Six, husband of Myra Wells Hancock Harvley, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Fred Otto Harvley and Frances Lucille Wells Harvley. Ray was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. When returning from war, he went to work at Greenwood Mills where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Ray was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he was in the Men's Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell Harvley and Mike Harvely; and a sister, Geraldine Garrett.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his children: Randy Harvley and Vickie McFarland (Dennis), both of Ninety Six; two brothers, James Harvley (Romana) of Hodges and Fred Harvley of Ninety Six; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dan Smyth and Rev. George Haltiwanger officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Saluda.

Pallbearers will be Keith McIntosh, Gary Driggers, Ronnie Garrett, Rusty Harvley, Keith Cook and Ethan Ellis.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Men's Sunday school class along with Terry Scruggs, Molly McCoy, Dennis McFarland Richard Howard and J. W & Becky Timms.

The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 10-11 am.

The family is at the home and also at the home of his daughter, Vickie McFarland.
