William Jackson Bruce, 75, of 100 Thomason Point husband of Bonnie Coleman Bruce died Friday, September 25, 2009 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late Andrew L. Garick and Bess Wilkins Bruce. William was a graduate of Bamberg High School and the University of South Carolina Class of 1956 CUMLAUDE. He has lived in Spartanburg, Columbia, Greenville, Orangeburg, Charleston and Atlanta. After retiring from AT&T, William and Bonnie moved to Lake Greenwood. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of the home; three sons, Bill Bruce of Greenwood, Allen Bruce (Starla) of Cross Hill and Bob Bruce (Andra) of Mobile, AL; a brother-in-law Robert Allen Coleman of Greenwood; and three grandsons, Dylan Bruce, Logan Bruce and Gavin Self-Poole. He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Garick Horton. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 108 Cambridge Avenue East, Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home.
