William "Bill" LeHugh Sowell, 82, of 2205 Woodlawn Road, husband of Willie Adams Sowell, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018 at HospiceCare of the Piedmont.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Troy Lee Sowell, Sr. and Daisy Scott Sowell. He was the owner and operator of Bill Sowell Electric and was a US Veteran of the Marine Corps, where he served in the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1957. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his son, Scott Sowell (Grace) of Abbeville; sisters, Shirley Stier of Minnesota and Margie Sanders (Bobby) of Aiden, NC; brother, Troy Sowell (Janice) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Caitlin Jennings (Kevin) of Greenwood, Ashley Young (Coleman) of Summerville, and Payton Sowell of Abbeville; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Trautman and Doris Coffman.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be J.J. Jordan, Coleman Young, Kevin Jennings, Ben Stone, Eddy Stone, and Danny Ashley.
Honorary escort will be members of the Greenwood Mall Walkers and members of Hardees Coffee Club.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
