Willie Belle Bishop Freeman of Rock Springs, Caroline County, VA, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Hospice House, Greenwood. Willie Belle was born April 5, 1919 in Boydton, VA, the youngest of four children born to James and Mittie Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Mittie Bishop, her brother and sisters Ruby Virginia Bishop, James Douglas Bishop, Sr. and Nellie Mae Bishop, and her husband Dr. Charles Butler Freeman. She was employed in the payroll department of Standard Oil Company for 18 years in Richmond. She then spent many years restoring �Rock Springs�, her authentic revolutionary war era home. She was devoted to her family and her many special friends and is survived by her nieces, Brenda Bishop Balchin, and her husband, Mike Balchin, of Ninety Six, Jackie Jones of Crossville TN; nephew, James Douglas Bishop, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; great-nieces, Jamie M. Balchin of Ninety Six, Laura Otis of Edgewater, MD, and Christina L. Thames of GA; great-nephews, Steve M. Balchin of Ninety Six and Alton B. Jones III of Tallapoosa, GA; great-great nieces, Courtney M. Balchin and Victoria Gail Balchin-Brown of Ninety Six.
