Zoya Polikarpovna Pozhar, 82, of 61 Fountain Park Circle, Spring Lake, NC died Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC.
Born in Kurgan Village, Blagoveschensky District, Altaiski-Krai, Russia, she was the daughter of the late Polikarp Pershin and Marina Pershina. She held an Associate's Degree in Agronomy from Slovgorod Agricultural College. She served as a production manager for Novisibirsk Mechanical Plant Iskra for 35 years before immigrating to the United States in 2005. She became a United States Citizen in 2016. She loved going to the beach, taking long walks, dogs, and talking with her family and friends. She was raised in the Russian Orthodox faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mikhial Pozhar, her grandson Willis Michael Burroughs, four brothers, and one sister.
Surviving are her daughter, Svetlana Burroughs and her husband Todd Burroughs of Spring Lake, NC; her grandson Iouli Burroughs, his wife Brooke Burroughs, and their son (her great-grandson) Braxton Burroughs of Charleston, SC; her granddaughter Anastasia Burroughs of Spring Lake, NC, and her granddaughter Jessica Burroughs of Spring Lake, NC.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Kinard United Methodist Church in Ninety Six, SC with the Rev. Bobby Gilbert officiating. The family will hold visitation at 2 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Kinard United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
